Assistant Site Manager
I joined Signia in June 2014, as an Assistant Site Manager to work on a fantastic opportunity of ten new build detached homes overlooking the London skyline with stunning panoramic views. Working on site is a great laugh, a lot more enjoyable than the 9-5 office hours! However, on a serious note I know I made the right decision to embark upon a career in site management following my post-graduate degree in MSc Construction Management as there’s nothing better than seeing buildings comes to life; from design drawings to seeing them take shape knowing you’ve created something that will last for a very long time.
As one of the most rapidly growing companies in the industry, Signia appealed to me because of its unique projects. One of the main advantages of being at a smaller company is that I get exposure to all aspects of the construction build whilst being guided by a number of experienced colleagues.
At Signia’s Wood Farm development, I was responsible for supporting the Project Manager and Site Manager with the day to day running of the site including management of direct labour, sub-contractors, material ordering, ensuring all site personnel complied with site health and safety, coordinating resources to site and most importantly with managing the build process with close attention to detail from the ground up.
It has been a steep learning curve and this job undoubtedly requires motivation and dedication. However the job is certainly rewarding with many positive aspects; the main being seeing the physical product being delivered. As Signia continues to expand I am excited to be part of a company that is growing in success.
